Mrs. Erin Biancella
Brick Township High School Assistant Principal
I attended Brick Township High School from 1995 to 1999. I also attended all my other schools in Brick Township, Emma Havens Young, Lake Riviera Middle School, and then came to be a Dragon. While I was in high school, I was a cheerleader, I played softball, I was president of my class and the student government I was in National Honor Society and Ski Club Rotary Interact, those were some of my favorite clubs to be involved in.
My favorite classes while I was in high school were Probability and Statistics with Mr. Finerty. He was a pretty funny guy and made us do some really silly things in class, but I learned a lot and was really prepared for college-level math because of what he taught me. I also loved Mrs. Stansbury’s class. She was Miss Heller back, and she was my English teacher. She really cared about her students, and about her class.
My favorite memory, and I have a lot of them, but I’m going to reflect back on my time with Miss Mustachio who was Miss Truex back then. We graduated together, and we’re best friends, and every Friday night we would rah rah raid together before the football games, and they were always great night’s. I will always remember them and cherish our time together here.
After high school I went on to the College of New Jersey. I majored in education, psychology, and School counseling. At the college level I was heavily involved with Residence Life which is the organization that runs all the activities and safety security programming in the residence halls. I did that throughout my time at the College New Jersey and graduate school. Did I ever think that I would return to Brick Township High School? Yes and no. Probably not, but I always loved my time here as a student walking in the hallways. I love being involved in the school and I was really happy when the opportunity arose for me to come back. I was first a Guidance
Counselor, and then the Coordinator of Guidance.
My favorite part about being back at Brick Township High School is it feels like home. It brings back a lot of memories of myself, when I was a student, reflecting on my time here and how happy it was. I love watching students go through high school and learn and grow through what they go through. It’s exciting to watch young adults matriculate to the next stage of life.
The advice that I would give to a Brick Township High School student, is enjoy the time here at Brick Township High School. A lot of students wish it away, and say I can’t wait till I’m done, I can’t wait to move on to the next level. You get done and you look back and say wow, those were great times that I spent there. Sometimes you don’t always appreciate them until they are long gone, so I would say enjoy every minute, all the friendships you make, and all the roots you kind of dig here in Brick Township. It’s a great place, a great place to grow up, a great place to live. That’s what I hope students would think about.
