Brick Memorial High School held Back-To-School Night last night, but it was more than meeting teachers. In the school’s cafeteria, many members of extracurricular activities were giving out information and hoping to recruit new students to get involved. Right at the entrance, there was the Key Club Chili Cook Off, where parents and students can pay $5 to get chili, cornbread, and a drink. Key Club raised over $130 and those proceeds will go towards the New Jersey Alzheimer Walk, where our team, the BMHS Sarge Squad, will be participating!
Principal Jonathan Barresi says, “I’m feeling great about Back-To-School Night! We seem to have an outstanding turnout of parents and teachers that are ready to go. The building looks beautiful, and we are ready to welcome all of our parents back to the 2022/2023 school year and we’re about to have an outstanding school year.” There was a ton of student participation lending a helping hand to parents. When asked how were they enjoying the evening, Maria Cuccurillo, mother and former BMHS student replied, ”Great! I enjoy meeting the teachers and seeing some old teachers.”
When teachers were asked how they feel about the night and the importance of Back-To-School Night, they were very excited. Science Teacher Robert Sodt responded, “I love Back-To-School Night! It is great for parents to meet the teachers and good for the teachers to verbalize their goals for the children! I wish we were doing it twice a year!”
Students were asked if Back-To-School Night was important to staff and parents. One student, Anthony Calvetto replied, “Back-To-School Night is important because it gives the parents a sense of what the teachers’ goals for their children are.”
We are looking forward to a fantastic and exciting school year. Welcome back, Stang Gang!
