This week, our celebrated music program was given some fantastic news: two of our Mustangs, seniors Kyra Griggs & Kelly Thornley, have been offered two very coveted spots on the New Jersey All-State Chorus. This ensemble is highly competitive, expecting students to leap through countless vocal hoops to earn a spot!
Unlike auditions in the past, vocalists were expected to audition virtually, which added a whole new set of challenges for the prospective members, who consisted of the best high school vocalists across the state who identify at sopranos or altos.
Mr. Bettys, the director of the vocal program at Brick Memorial High School humbly said, “virtual auditions make it very difficult, and these two ladies and their peers have faced so many challenges in two years when it comes to singing.” He humbly continued, “I really can’t take much of the credit; these two girls wanted it and worked really hard to get it.”
We are so proud of Kyra and Kelly, and we look forward to their performance with the New Jersey All-State Chorus on February 26, 2022, at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark.
