The spirit of the season echoed through the hallways of Brick Memorial High School today as the Mustang Caroling Choir continued its beloved tradition of serenading students during the last hour of school. In an unexpected turn of events, junior Kelly Fitzgerald, who recently starred as the lead in Mean Girls Jr., admirably stepped up to lead the choir in the absence of their dedicated choral teacher, Mr. Kevin Bettys.
Despite the unforeseen change, the Mustang Caroling Choir, composed of exceptionally talented students, showcased their vocal prowess under Kelly’s direction. The choir members, including Caia Cano, Emma Carrannante, Alena Casanova, Cole Dawson, Emily Farrell, Beau Knisley, Shakera Llewellyn, Deztynee Ross, Samantha Sei, Maryanna Vanderhoop, Lacey Verga, and Robyn Youmans, harmonized seamlessly, creating a festive atmosphere that resonated throughout the school.
“This unexpected twist only highlighted the remarkable adaptability and talent within the Mustang Caroling Choir. It’s truly impressive to see the students come together to continue this cherished tradition with such grace and enthusiasm,” remarked Mrs. Rebecca Decker, a longstanding member of the Brick Memorial High School community.
The annual celebration, a decades-long tradition, brought the school community together in the spirit of the holidays. Mrs. Decker continued, “The Mustang Caroling Choir never fails to bring a smile to our faces, and today’s performance was a testament to the resilience and talent within our student body. This choir truly embodies the spirit of the season.”
As the year 2023 comes to a close, the Brick Memorial High School community reflects on the significance of traditions that foster a sense of unity and joy, and today’s event will surely be remembered as a testament to the enduring spirit of the Mustang Caroling Choir.
