Detective Benny Alvarado Honored as “Brick Hero” Recipient
Brick Memorial High School proudly announces that Detective Benny Alvarado will be honored as a “Brick Hero” recipient at the annual Brick Hero Awards celebration. The event, hosted by the Mayor’s Student Advisory Committee, recognizes outstanding Brick residents and businesses for their remarkable efforts in improving the community.
Detective Alvarado, who serves as the School Resource Officer at Brick Memorial High School, was nominated by Tara Schinder from the Brick Township Police Department. Since joining the school in 2020, Detective Alvarado has become a beloved member of the school community, providing safety, security, and valuable support to both staff and students.
Principal Ed Sarluca expressed his admiration for Detective Alvarado, stating, “He brings passion and energy to his position and is vastly knowledgeable and helpful in all areas. He provides safety and security to our staff and students and does so with a big heart and always a smile on his face. He is respected by students and staff alike and has really acclimated to becoming a Mustang!”
The ceremony will take place on Friday, March 8, at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium of Brick Township High School, located at 346 Chambers Bridge Road. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. The event will feature performances by the BTHS and BMHS choir and drama clubs, as well as the Brick Dance Team. Tickets will be available for purchase at the door, priced at $8 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. All proceeds will benefit The Mayor’s Student Advisory and the Lounge 270 Teen Center.
