Congratulations Dr. Thomas G. Farrell on Being Named NJASA Regional Superintendent of the Year
Brick Memorial High School and all Brick Township Public Schools are proud to announce that Dr. Thomas G. Farrell, Superintendent of Brick Schools, has been named the New Jersey Association of School Administrators (NJASA) Regional Superintendent of the Year. Dr. Farrell, currently in his fifth year leading Brick Township Public Schools and his 12th year as a superintendent in New Jersey, also serves as President of the Ocean County Association of School Administrators (OCASA).
NJASA Executive Director Dr. Richard G. Bozza praised Dr. Farrell for his exceptional leadership and innovative contributions to the educational community, stating: “Dr. Farrell is being recognized for his exceptional leadership, unwavering dedication to educational excellence, and innovative approach to fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment. Under his guidance, his District has seen significant improvements in student performance, teacher development, and community engagement. Dr. Farrell is committed to implementing forward-thinking policies and has an ability to inspire both staff and students alike.”
Since joining Brick Township Public Schools in March 2020, Dr. Farrell has successfully navigated the district through unprecedented challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the financial constraints imposed by S2 funding cuts. His strategic leadership has resulted in improved outcomes for students, staff, and the wider community. Dr. Farrell’s leadership philosophy centers on creating organizational strategies that lead to meaningful and lasting results for all stakeholders.
Dr. Farrell’s recognition as a regional Superintendent of the Year places him in contention for the prestigious AASA National Superintendent of the Year Award. A committee of NJASA Past Presidents and former Regional Superintendents of the Year will select the 2025 New Jersey Superintendent of the Year from the three regional honorees. The qualifications for this award include a demonstrated ability to meet the needs of students, effective communication, a commitment to professional growth, and significant involvement with the community.
This accomplishment highlights Dr. Farrell’s dedication to providing student-centered instruction through teacher-led practices, fostering an environment of academic growth and interpersonal relationships. Additionally, his leadership in the district’s Strategic Planning process, which garnered widespread community input, has strengthened support for Brick schools, reinforcing their role as a vital and proud extension of the community.
