Yesterday, on January 10, 2024, Brick Memorial High School hosted a remarkable National Honor Society Induction Ceremony to honor 44 outstanding students who have demonstrated academic excellence, leadership, and exemplary character.
Reflecting on the significance of the National Honor Society Induction, Mrs. Rivera shared, “The National Honor Society Induction is all about celebrating some of the best students at Brick Memorial. The students invited to apply to the organization are academic standouts in the school. Those accepted to the organization have to prove that they stand out in other ways as well. They must prove to be very involved and be leaders in the school and community and have an exemplary character.”
Highlighting the essence of the induction ceremony, Mrs. Rivera added, “On the night of the induction, we celebrate their accomplishments and let them know how proud we are of them and their continuous efforts to make Brick Memorial and Brick Township an amazing place.”
Interim Principal Dennis Filippone spoke proudly, citing that in his short time at Brick Memorial, he sees such high spirits and dedication from the student body. He also made a point to thank the parents, who have tirelessly supported the inductees on their journey to this evening.
In addition to honoring students, the ceremony recognized inspirational educators chosen by the inductees. Each student, after their name was announced as a new member, spoke proudly about the teacher they chose to invite to the ceremony. Teachers were then given a rose and a copy of the expressions of kindness and gratefulness. Mrs. Rivera expressed her gratitude, saying, “Another group recognized on this night are the teachers selected by the inductees as their inspirational educators. The students’ words of appreciation are always heartwarming. Congratulations to all those mentioned this year.”
Clark Demarest, President of the Brick Memorial Chapter of the National Honor Society led the evening well. He, and his fellow board members Lizi Shcherbakovi, Carson McCue, Samantha Ritacco, and Bianca Quintero, eloquently explained the history and symbolism within the original, which was founded on March 1, 1921.
Mrs. Rivera extended her thanks to all those involved in the process, stating, “I also want to take a moment to thank all the teachers and coaches who are part of the process. The Faculty Council for the time they dedicate to reviewing every application and providing their feedback. Also, to all the teachers who wrote letters of recommendation and/or personally came to speak to me or emailed in support of a student(s). You truly are wonderful. Thank you.”
The National Honor Society Induction at Brick Memorial High School is a night of great pride, recognizing the greatness of the school community.
