Brick Memorial High School and the Brick Memorial Football team will be welcoming back the 2003 state championship team this Friday, September 8 in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the 2003 state championship. The Mustangs will honor alumni who played on the ‘03 team with a pregame ceremony introducing them and acknowledging their accomplishments. The Mustang’s improbable run in 2003 saw them host the state championship after entering the postseason as the 8 seed, the Mustangs claimed their first state championship with a 29-6 victory over Manalapan in front of a massive crowd.
The current Mustangs team hopes to replicate the ‘03 team’s success after opening the season with two impressive victories. All students and supporters are invited to take part in and celebrate the history and tradition of the Brick Memorial football program on what will be a special night. The ceremony will take place right before the Mustangs go up against Barnegat as they look to continue their strong start and improve to 3-0 on the season.
