On Friday, the cast of Radium Girls, our winter projection that runs Feb 10, 11, & 12 at 7:00 pm, participated in a Q+A with playwright D.W. Gregory. She shared great insight into how she researched the material to write the play. The students had prepared thoughtful questions and it elicited great conversation with Ms. Gregory. This experience will surely give the Drama Club a deeper insight into this already insightful play.
As if this was not exciting enough, The NJ Thespian Festival was this weekend. The Mustang Players had 19 students attend to take workshops and compete in the state competition. Our troupe (3411) took home a few awards!
1. We were one of five high schools in the state to receive the Gold Honor Troupe Award. This is the highest award you can win at the festival! We were also recognized for our food drive for Trick or Treat so Kids Can Eat that supported Manasquan Food Pantry.
2. Victoria De Los Santos (‘22) was awarded the Open Jar Scholarship. Open Jar is a NYC theatre intensive program, where students get the opportunity to work with Broadway professionals.
3. Daniel Marks (‘23) and Paul Mastroserio (‘22) competed in Duet Acting and won a Superior The Spy Award, and are now eligible to compete at Nationals in the spring.
4. Benjamin Neller (‘24) not only won a Superior Thespy Award for Stage Management and qualifies for Nationals, but he was the ONLY student in NJ to place in this category.
