The BSI program remediates and supports literacy and mathematics at all grade levels. Some factors that would make your child eligible for BSI is data from NJ ASK 3 and 4, as well as results collected from DIBELS screening. Additional data is also considered for BSI selection.
DIBELS, which stands for Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills, is a screening tool used to assess literacy components such as letter naming, phonics knowledge, reading fluency, and comprehension. It is administered three times per year to all first, second, and third grade students. It is also administered to students in grades 4-5 who have been identified as eligible for BSI from their standardized test scores. Students with needs are progress monitored throughout the school year.
The BSI staff works cooperatively as an instructional team with the classroom teachers to help all students succeed.
