In celebration of both events, the Drum Point PTA created and locked up a time capsule. Mid-January 2010, 10 years later, daughter of the time capsule creator, Katie Ritt, went back in time with her siblings and opened up the time capsule for a history lesson beyond belief.
On Wednesday, February 3, 2010, VMES held a charity volleyball came to benefit Haitian Relief. Students had a chance to play against the faculty in this third annual event. The fifth grade parents also held a bake sale to benefit Project Fifth Grade which helps defray the cost of special activities for our fifth graders at the end of the year.
The Ocean County Health Department has asked each school district in the county to remind their residents that this is a great time for everyone who has not already been immunized, to become immunized against H1N1. Vaccine is available and vaccination clinics are still in full swing around the county, with no lines! If H1N1 returns, which the Health Departments warns that there is a good possibility it will, you and your children will be fully immunized. Log on to the Health Departments website for a schedule of upcoming vaccination clinics and further information www.ochd.org
